“This unique event brings together experts on China Outbound Travel from Guam, Micronesia, Mainland China and Hong Kong to deliver their insight of the market,” GVB Chairman of the Greater China Marketing Committee, Bruce E. Kloppenburg said. “As we look to an increase of Chinese visitors to the island over the next couple of months and years, it is important to prepare our industry for that influx and we are happy to offer this opportunity to our members and partners throughout Micronesia.”
According to travel industry predictions, Chinese outbound traffic to U.S. destinations will increase in the next six months. Among factors likely to motivate bookings to the U.S. (including Guam and the region), visa processing time, the level of promotion by U.S. destinations and businesses, and direct air service to desired destinations are ranked as the top three factors.
Crystal clear oceans and sand are the main reasons attracting Chinese tourists to outbound island travel. In addition, shopping, safety and the suitability for a leisurely vacation are also important reasons.
GVB hosted the first Symposium in October 2010, which focused on understanding the profile of Chinese outbound travelers and how to generate relationships with Chinese agencies to build Guam’s awareness in China. This year, the Symposium is scheduled for May 22, 2013 and will be a full-day event focused on how to maximize opportunities in welcoming increasing numbers of Chinese visitors by meeting their travel wants and needs.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association is supporting the Symposium. Sponsors include United Airlines, DFS, Kloppenburg Enterprises, Inc. and Bank of Guam.
Further details on the program will be announced and available online shortly.
