2018 HERO Award Winners Announced

GVB AND GHRA recognize 56 outstanding heroes in the hospitality industry

(Tumon, Guam) – The Guam Visitors Bureau and the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association announced the 2018 HERO  (Hospitality Employees are Outstanding) Awards winners today at the annual award ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Guam. Fifteen winners were selected from the seven award categories – Håfa Adai, Rookie of the Year, Middle Management, Supervisory, Non-Supervisory, Life Saving and Integrity. GVB and GHRA presented certificates to each of the 56 nominees and the prestigious Håfa Adai Ambassador coin to the winners in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the tourism industry.

2018 HERO AWARDS WINNERS

Håfa Adai Spirit Winners

Individuals who have contributed significantly to the promotion, awareness and preservation of the Håfa Adai spirit through the Håfa Adai Pledge. The Håfa Adai pledge is demonstrated through excellent hospitality services and activities promoting the Chamorro culture (e.g. music, art displays, performances, teaching and community involvement).

Rookie of the Year Winners

New non-supervisory employees who have demonstrated consistent and excellent performance during the course of the job and have exhibited pride in rendering services. They embody an attitude to exceed guest expectations at every opportunity.

  • Camilyn Soledad (Outrigger Guam Beach Resort)
  • Junko Jasmin (Dusit Thani Guam Resort)

 

Middle Management Winners

Middle management employees who have demonstrated consistent and excellent performance during the course of the job. They have demonstrated productivity in his or her department and have instilled pride in service to those he or she manages.

  • Kevin Mattern (Hilton Guam Resort and Spa)
  • Tanis Cantu (The Westin Resort Guam)

 

Supervisory Winners

Supervisory employees who have demonstrate consistent and excellent performance during the course of the job.  They have demonstrated productivity in his or her department and have instilled pride in service to those he or she supervises.

  • Catherine Manangu (Hilton Guam Resort and Spa)

 

Non-Supervisory Winners

Non-supervisory employees who have demonstrated consistent and excellent performance during the course of the job and have exhibited pride in rendering services. They embody an attitude to exceed guest expectations at every opportunity.

Life Saving Award Winners

Individuals who demonstrated quick thinking and whose actions directly protected and/or saved a life.

Integrity Award Winners

Individuals who have demonstrated a high level of integrity in protecting property and/or initiating the return process for lost or stolen property at their place of employment.
