MICRONESIA TOURS OFFERED FOR PATA ANNUAL SUMMIT

February 17, 2016

NOTE: The following is a joint release from PATA Micronesia Chapter and the Guam Visitors Bureau.

(Tamuning, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Micronesia Chapter will be offering pre and post tours to the islands of Micronesia as part of the upcoming PATA Annual Summit, which is slated for May 18-21, 2016 at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort. These tours for PATA members will include the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI): Saipan, Rota, and Tinian; Federated States of Micronesia (FSM): Yap, Chuuk (Truk), Kosrae, and Pohnpei; Republic of Palau and the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).

“Although these islands are in Micronesia, they all have diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, and lifestyles. No two islands are alike and each nation has its own unique offerings,” said PATA Micronesia Chapter Chairwoman and GVB Marketing Manager Pilar Laguaña. “What better way to celebrate PATA’s 65th Anniversary than to bring back the ‘P’ in Pacific! We encourage the PATA delegates to go off the beaten path and get their feet wet on the shores of Micronesia.”

GVB has selected Mystical Tours Travel & Adventures as the travel agency to build travel packages within the different destinations. Mrs. Bobbie Taitano and Mrs. Katie Black, who together have a total of 55 years of combined experience in the travel and tourism industry, founded the agency in 2014. Their team of experts is able to tailor travel packages for delegates to experience the warmth of Micronesia.

Under the theme, “Exploring the Secrets of the Blue Continent,” the PATA Annual Summit aims to attract 400 delegates from over 30 countries, bringing together leaders, industry shapers, and senior decision-makers who are engaged with the travel and tourism growth in the Asia Pacific region. The summit also serves as the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and as a global tourism forum. This event will also include a one-day international conference that focuses on relevant travel and tourism industry trends and topics. Additionally, the PATA Youth Symposium, a half-day forum, is being offered to students and young professionals to engage with industry professionals during plenary talks and roundtable discussions on various topics relevant to the destination. In addition, PATA in Partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), will be holding a half-day Pacific Islands Ministerial Meeting.
