GUAM CELEBRATES 36TH GUAM MICRONESIA ISLAND FAIR
Micronesia Islands Gather for Cultural Showcase

(Tumon, Guam) The Guam Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the success of the 36th annual celebration of the Guam Micronesia Island Fair (GMIF) on June 1 & 2, 2024 at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Beach Park (Ypao).  The event took place from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm each day and feature food, crafts, dance, and live entertainment unique to the islands of Micronesia.

The theme of this year’s GMIF “Regenerating Micronesia,” which supports the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FestPac) theme “Regenerating Oceania,” aimed to reinforce the strong ties between the islands of Guam, Northern Marianas Islands, Federated States of Micronesia – Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae and Yap – Marshall Islands, and Palau. 

Cultural masters, artisans, and vendors participated in the event, showcasing their local products and talents.  Food and drinks were available for purchase with the availability of food trucks and activities for the kids.  Live performances from various cultural dance groups and popular entertainers such as Parker Yobei, Kendall Titiml and K2E, KPV, Pacific Cool, and Mix Plate took the stage with special performances keeping the dance floor live with their island-style vibes.  Free public shuttle service was available from Freedom Park to Ypao Beach on both Saturday and Sunday from 12:00pm – 10:00pm. 

The Guam Micronesia Island Fair is a GVB signature event that has celebrated the vibrant cultures of Micronesia for more than 35 years.  “It is the coming together of all of our sister islands to share and celebrate our cultural heritage, which shows how very unique each of our islands are, yet how united we are as one people, Un Micronesia (One Micronesia),” explains GVB President & CEO Carl T.C. Gutierrez.

GMIF 2024’s Opening Ceremony was held on Saturday, June 1 at 4:00pm. with special performances by Regina Bocatija, Noah Castro and the Guam FestPac delegation who exhibited a powerful performance showing the talent they will be featuring in Hawaii this month. 
GVB gives un dankulo na' Si Yu'osa Ma'ase (a big thank you) to all community partners, vendors, participants, and island residents for their valuable support in this successful signature event.  Micronesia island residents and visitors can look forward to the next Guam Micronesia Island Fair next summer 2025!
