GVB unveils plans for Tåno I Famagu’on – Guam’s first cultural smart park

(Tumon, Guam) During its first in-person quarterly membership meeting in two years, the Guam Visitors Bureau presented initial plans for an upcoming project that will create a new attraction in the village of Tumon that seeks to reimagine the island’s tourism industry. The plan is part of Governor Lou Leon Guerrero’s vision that seeks to increase the island’s destination value and yield per visitor and develop institutional capacity to perpetuate and sustain the island’s cultural heritage.

Tåno I Famagu’on (land of the children) will be Guam’s first cultural smart park. The project will transform Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) into a major theme park that articulates Guam’s cultural identity, while strengthening the island’s brand equity, and encouraging a unique destination experience for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The vision for the park is “a cultural home for all to learn and play, by living in the spirit of Håfa Adai.”
